Rico Fuentes is a Balut vendor in
Pagadian city despite of being a blind he perseveres in doing his work in order
to survive.
After the death of his wife three
years ago he himself supported his daughters by selling Balut so he can give
them a bright future.
Together with her dear daughter, Rico dives the sea daily
morning to look for clams and fishes to sell.
After selling those, they prepare making Balut so they
can start selling it in early evening that they can go home not passing the
midnight.
Together with his seven years old
daughter, they start to sell Balut along the side walk in Pagadian City.
The seven year old girl serves as
the eye to his blind father she carries his hand along her while they selling
balut in the side walk.
They earn not less than two hundred
pesos a day; they usually buy food, and other necessities for their daily life.
For him to earn two hundred pesos a day, they can survive
for tomorrow he can give her daughter money to carry in their school.
According to Rico Fuentes he became blind when he is
thirteen years old because in his early age he experience hardships in life,
just to have a food to eat.
For some reasons Rico Fuentes did not become a burden to
his family and neighbors, because for him being a blind is only a trial given
to him he must continue his life even if it is full of hardship.
