Deal With Belly Padilla

Bela Padilla gained the nickname Belly Padilla as netizens jokingly commented on her recent Instagram post, pinpointing her tummy.

She responded to the comments saying that they have to 'deal with it'.

Padilla wrote in a tweet, "Shocked by the number of comments on my IG post, pointing out that I have a belly. Yes [,] I do. It has a layer of muscles that I worked hard for in the gym and a layer of fat from the food I enjoy to eat. Deal with it. PLUS I'm seated."

The Meet me in St. Gallen star replied to the comments, criticizing her tummy, that it was just like everyone else's.

Her tweet was supported by numbers of netizens. Her comedian friend, Mikey Bustos, replied to her tweet saying Padilla is beautiful.




Also, the lawyer-blogger, Joei Gana-Teves, commented how those criticisms can be considered as body shaming in other countries but was a norm here in the Philippines.

Her followers also defended her commenting that a true beauty has a belly. Netizen @chandria_padills even called the bashers 'shallow' for laughing at her tummy.


Padilla said in her following tweet that she could have just edited her photo to perfection but she refused to do so, and she will never do that.

She tweeted, "Would it have made you more comfortable if I edited my photo to perfection? Because I could have easily done that. But what message does it send to the younger ones? That our photos are only likeable [likable] when we’re perfect in photos? Not from me. NEVER."

Bela Padilla gained the support of many for being proud her body and for embracing it. 

As of 10:31 in the evening, her Instagram post has already reached 126, 768 likes and 486 comments. And her tweet earned 2,343 retweets and 24.8k likes.
